About the role:

Tesco are setting out on a new journey to become a truly omni-channel retailer, with the aim of offering our customers a simple and joined up digital experience no matter where they are.

If you’re interested in designing a new and genuinely innovative shopping app, that has a potential user base of 16 million customers, then this role is for you.

You will be responsible for:

Using your amazing app design skills you will help design a new native shopping app that meets the needs of millions of customers whether it’s in-store or online, across their entire shopping journey It doesn’t stop there, this new app will also serve as the vehicle to build a consolidated app platform - simplifying customer journeys, apps, features and patterns used across all different businesses and countries in the Tesco group

Reporting to the Shopping Design Lead you’ll be responsible for the UI design of the new app and the new consolidated app platform Working alongside other designers, researchers and engineers, you’ll be moving quickly to get things in customers hands - testing assumptions and rapidly iterating based on insights

To ensure our decisions are the right ones, you’ll help us test all designs and patterns with customers, documenting our findings, rationale and standards alongside the design system

We make products for everyone, and as such accessibility and inclusion is a foundational pillar of our design standards You’ll help bring others with you, imparting your expert knowledge of native app UI design to develop other designers in the team

You will need:

  • An expert UI designer with proven experience designing and delivering iOS and Android apps
  • Exceptional UI design skills (including interaction design) demonstrated with a strong portfolio
  • You’ve guided the UI design of at least 2 large native apps projects
  • Mastery of Sketch, including creating complex design libraries Ability to present your designs and articulate your rationale to colleagues and stakeholders
