Luminary ROLI is looking for an experienced Javascript Application Developer to work on our ROLI Connect desktop utility application.

We’re looking for a developer with up-to-date Javascript skills to join the Pro Software team at Luminary ROLI Ltd with cross-functional responsibilities with Platform, QA, Sound and Marketing. We're at a critical point in planning our future developments and we need the expertise and insight of an experienced developer to help us scale and fulfil our bold ambitions within the music tech world.

ROLI Connect is an installation, onboarding and license management application for Windows and macOS written in Electron.js, with close integration with our platform API. Your role will include feature development, ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain performant and robust Javascript code
  • Work closely with our QA team to troubleshoot reported issues
  • Bring your expertise to modernise ROLI Connect and its associated toolchain
  • Communicate and collaborate with teams across ROLI including Platform, software development etc.


What you’ll need:

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience working with cross-platform applications and file systems
  • Understanding of installers, system privilege elevation, sandboxing and a working knowledge of cryptography as it relates to software license management
  • An ability to understand where, how and why things go wrong, combined with a passion for problem-solving
  • An inquisitive mind and demonstrable examples of implementing proactive solutions
  • Superb time-management skills and the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels

Technical skills


  • Experience working with React.js or similar
  • Experience working with JavaScript debugging tools
  • Client-side implementation of RESTful API
  • Experience working with cross-platform projects/applications
  • Experience writing unit tests
  • Fluent with version control (Git), continuous integration and deployment


  • Experience building Electron.js applications on Mac and Windows
  • Experience working with Node.js
  • Knowledge of installer systems and application privilege elevation
  • Familiar with file systems, file permissions and Mac OS launch agents/Windows services
  • Experience working with Bash scripts and Batch files
  • CSS-in-Javascript Nice to have

  • Experience with server-side - MongoDB, AWS

  • High-level understanding of MIDI protocol including System Exclusive messages
  • C++ knowledge
