Senior Software Engineer (full-time, permanent)

We help employees to learn the skills they need, by filtering the right content for them and their company. We’re a curious, caring, thoughtful, multicultural team with a passion for learning, solving complex challenges, and having fun doing it.

Our algorithms and experts work together to find the right course, article, video or podcast for every situation quickly, by organising, tagging and recommending useful content. We’ve helped companies like Astra Zeneca, Heineken, NHS, and Sainsbury's, and won multiple awards for innovation in edtech. Here’s what our users say:

“My playlist was like an "Intellectual Disneyland" for adults.”

"It seemed as though the best mentors in the world got together to put my lists together.”

You’ll be working at the center of our engineering team, working closely with other developers and the rest of the company, taking responsibility for major new projects, and solving interesting problems.

Along with backend Python or Golang development, you'll have the opportunity to work on full stack web development, data engineering, APIs, prototyping, devops, analytics, and long-term architectural planning.

We’ll commit to helping you learn and grow as a software developer and colleague. We’ll make sure you’re responsible for and working on meaningful challenges from your very first day, and we’ll invest the time, effort and mentorship you need to succeed at them.

We expect you to help out in miscellaneous ways, support other team members with their jobs, be an ambassador externally, and contribute positively to our company and our culture.

  • You want to help others around you develop and succeed.
  • You communicate well, in both speech and writing.
  • You are interested in creatively using technology to solve business problems.

It would be a bonus if

You have experience with: Git, AWS or similar, SQL, Linux, React/JavaScript or other web front-end technologies, Docker, UI/UX, CI/CD, data engineering, distributed architectures, building APIs, authentication/SSO, security best practices, email delivery, machine learning, or analytics.

You’re interested in learning, talent development, or HR.
