Developer Evangelist, Data Science

  • Data Analyst, Data Scientist
  • Permanent
  • London, UK

We are looking for an exceptional Data Science Evangelist to represent Datapane in the open-source community and unite our thousands of users into a community groundswell.

Datapane is the frontend for the data science ecosystem. Our open-source library helps data scientists use the tools they love to create reports, dashboards, and apps for non-technical end-users.

We are backed by some of the top investors in the world, and have grown to be the most popular way to create and share data science reports. We are proud to put the power of the open-source ecosystem in the hands of over 50,000 end-users each month.

You will be leading this movement by evangelising and advocating for Python and Datapane. This includes showing the world what you can build using the open-source ecosystem, crafting resources and demos, documentation, and content such as guides and blogs. Additionally, you will work with complementary products and open-source libraries to help them become part of the story. Finally, you will help grow and nurture our community, and be the advocate for our community and open-source users inside the company.

This role touches on many skills, and you will be working across product, marketing, and data science.

Take a look at our Employee Handbook (https://datapane.notion.site/datapane/Datapane-Han...) to learn about the application process and how we work.

What's the product?

Datapane is a platform and framework for building beautiful data science documents for your company, clients, or community. Reports on our platform are viewed by over 30,000 people a month, and is the most popular way to embed data science results into platforms such as Medium and Reddit. You can check out what our community is building right now here.

Our tech stack:

Our tech stack is Python, Django, and Kubernetes on the backend. On the front-end, we use a mixture of React, HTMX, Alpine.js and TailwindCSS. Under the hood, the work we do introduces interesting challenges across distributed systems, containerisation, scalability, and large-scale data processing. We try and wrap this up as a simple and delightful product which users love.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and the Python data science ecosystem — you should feel at home writing technical content or hacking on a Jupyter Notebook
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Hands-on experience creating community content, such as guides, documentation, pre-sales materials
  • Experience managing and nurturing online communities

Note this role is remote, but we are hiring in the UK and Europe only. Please do not apply if you are not within these geographies.
