The role.

As a Product (UX/UI) Designer at Collective Benefits, you will join our growing product function and will have the opportunity to tackle complex product challenges and shape the continued development of our digital product & design system.

We’re looking for a motivated and obsessive designer, with an aptitude for pixel-perfect screen output. You have empathy for customer needs but can also consider technical constraints and business goals. You’ll have at least 3-5 years of design experience, ideally working with a top-tier tech company, product-driven start-up, or in-demand digital agency.

Three reasons this role is great:1. You’ll work with our close-knit Engineering and Product teams, moving from research to wireframe and finished product quickly, leading the development of our design system, and delivering high fidelity designs that blow our customers & users away. 2. If you’re looking to make a mark in your career and take ownership in a highly driven team - this is the opportunity for you. We have big ambitions for growth, move at a fast pace, and you’ll work autonomously with the close support of startup founders and senior managers who have done this before. 3. You’ll make a difference - we’re building a business that will provide the protections that gig workers badly need.

What will you do?- Take broad and ambiguous problems and turn them into delightful products - Design interfaces for both mobile and web that are incredibly simple, elegant, and enjoyable to use - Contribute to the development of the Collective identity and design system. - Partner with product, engineering, and user research to oversee the development of a product from problem definition, conception to launch (and then some) - Manage the relationship and workflow of our partner design agency, eventually transitioning design to be fully in house - In the earlier stages, your role will be multi-functioning and you can expect to be supporting other areas of the business with their design needs. - You will grow a design team, delivering on the business objectives while providing your team with the coaching and mentoring they need to grow.

You should join us if:- You are experienced in product design, user interface and interaction design, visual design, storytelling, and prototyping - You value collaboration and are at your best when you’re part of a team - Your vision and your strong sense for details help to continually raise the bar of a quality product - You understand that good design is not about trends but is built on top of principles and tradeoffs - You are comfortable with the pace of a fast-moving startup and the ever-changing priorities. In fact, you are more than comfortable, you thrive in it! - You have managed the relationship with external agencies - You are currently leading people while also being a hands-on all-purpose designer - You have a diverse portfolio (including B2B & B2C projects), across web, mobile and sales and marketing collateral, that reflect critical thinking and design excellence - You make well-reasoned design decisions understanding colour, light and materials - You have empathy for customer needs, but can also consider technical constraints and business goals - You can show us a portfolio with detailed examples of effective visual design - You are flexible; we’re a young startup and you’ll be designing lots of fun things - You’re a pro at Figma/Sketch and have extensive experience with prototyping tools like Marvel and Invision

The nuts and bolts:- You must be comfortable with moving quickly from wireframe to pixel perfect and polished final designs - Great communication skills whether it be face to face, through video, phone or email - An experienced Lead/Senior Designer who has helped a product and team scale - Smart, inquisitive, and have a willingness to sink your teeth into the role - Knowledge of (or a keen interest in) the gig economy is a significant plus
